POP Gardens was set up by Lynne Evans who wanted to combine her expertise in Occupational Therapy with her passion for the practical benefits of gardening and art to support wellbeing and recovery. It offers training for healthcare professionals in horticultural therapy, delivering group sessions, as well as providing advice and information on therapeutic gardens. In addition, Lynne has created POP BOXwhich is the result of years and years of experience running art and gardening groups in psychiatric hospitals and community garden settings trying out and testing which activities are able to connect adults and children enough to benefit their physical and mental health.
POP Gardens sees gardening and art as natural companions that enrich our daily experiences by using all of our senses. Both are truly multisensory activities that help to restore and renew our sense of wellbeing. We all have different sensory needs which can be impaired by illness and injury and undertaking sensory rich activities can help stabilise mood and modify behaviours that challenge us.
We have partnered with POP Gardens to offer our 2020 volunteers a special gift to say thank you.
