To Be Human – A Digital Exhibition

‘To Be Human’ explores the nature of what it is to be alive.

The phenomena of emotion is universal throughout our species: love, happiness, anger, grief, sadness, disgust – these are prevalent worldwide, despite cultural and societal differences. However we don’t necessarily experience emotions in the same way, and the subjectivity of these experiences is what shapes us as individuals.

This collection of digital paintings explores concepts as well as emotion and seeks to advocate open communication about mental health by elucidating the normality of suffering. Art has an uncanny ability to guide and comfort those who are most in need; it provides an alternative means of self-expression, and through it, accommodates reflection and encourages a greater understanding of the world around, and within us.
